Meditation
I cannot stress enough how important it is that you practise mediation. It releses all negative energy built up during the day and provides you with an extra source of energy.
Meditation
Meditation is practiced throughout the world in several different religions, as well as used on it's own. It is believed to have healing properties, as well as relaxation techniques. There are many different ways of practicing meditation.
Wear loose fitting attire so that you are comfortable
Make sure that there is no loud sounds or other distracting events
You will probably have to start only doing five minutes at a time, but eventually you can get up to an hour or more
Stage 1
Sit in a comfortable position so that you will not be bothered by your physical complaints. A lot of people sit either cross-legged or sitting on a chair with their back straight and feet planted firmly on the floor
Try to relax as much as possible
Anything running around in your mind, try to acknowledge it's presence then let it pass through your mind. Some people imagine it to move in a cloud then float away. As you try to clear your mind, you may find some large problem which may not go away. If so, try to deal with that problem before you start again. Once your mind is fairly calm, proceed to Stage Two
Stage 2
You can either breathe normally for this or, if you have got good enough, use the calming breath to help maximize effects
There are several different directions from this stage. In this stage I shall show you how to use mantras
Find a word which you would like to achieve, e.g. calm or peace. Now focus on that word. Say it in your mind, if you like say it out loud at regular intervals. Direct your total and utter attention on that word until you become part of that word. At first, it will feel strange and you will almost definitely jerk out of it. Gradually, you will learn to hold onto that state. The word, or mantra as they are known, can be very important. For example, the mantra `calm' used, will help you to calm yourself. One which can be used before exams is `focus'. Try to use it in meditation about a week before you need to focus, use it every day. Some mantras can be dangerous, `heal' is one which so far, is still being explored. Try to stick to these: calm; peace; control; concentrate; focus. Welcome to mantras.
Stage 3
Pictures or colours can also be used. Again, focus your total and utter attention on the image and let yourself enter the meditative state. Be careful though, some colours such as red are thought by some to be dangerous, for example red is thought to indicate anger.
Another way is an orb. You can either imagine one or several orbs. Orbs are little balls which you imagine around your body, if you are imagining several, feel them flow. Then, imagine the balls turning into a river or an ocean, an ocean which you are in the middle of. Feel the ocean flow around you. We shall do more about this at a later date.
If you only imagine one orb, imagine it above your head, glowing. Often, the colour which you imagine it to be reflects on either your personal colour, or on your mood. Imagine it hovering, and then, let it enter your body, glowing with energy, lighting up all parts of you. Let it move around you, from your hand, to your shoulder, to your stomach, to your leg, to your foot. Imagine it cleansing everything it touches. This may have a healing effect.
Things to consider
Whilst meditating, you may experience visions. These will grow as you become more proficient in the Force. These visions can be of the past, present and future. However, the future is always in motion and, if your vision does not come true, it does not mean that it was wrong, only that it was something that COULD have happened but did not. Take these visions seriously.
A new idea is to use white noise to concentrate on. Try dis-tuning your radio and meditating on the white noise coming from the static
Before trying out new mantras, consult your teacher or master
Meditating improves your connection to the Force, try to maintain a daily routine
